About Currents

Free personal finance tools that respect your privacy.

Currents exists because most budgeting tools ask for too much. They want your bank login, your email, your credit card for a "free trial." They store your financial data on their servers. They sell insights about your spending to advertisers.

We thought there should be a better option: powerful finance tools that run entirely in your browser, store nothing on any server, and don't require an account. So we built one.

What Currents offers

Every tool is free, works offline after the first load, and saves data to your browser's local storage. Nothing is transmitted to any server, ever. When you share a budget link, the data is encoded in the URL itself — it never passes through us.

Our principles

🔒

Privacy first

Your financial data never leaves your device. No accounts, no tracking, no data collection.

🆓

Free forever

No premium tiers, no feature gates, no "upgrade to unlock." Every feature is available to everyone.

Instant

No signup flow, no onboarding emails, no waiting. Open the tool and start using it immediately.

🎯

Actionable

Not just numbers in boxes. Visual flows, what-if scenarios, and health scores that change behavior.

How your data is handled

Everything is stored in your browser's localStorage. We don't collect, transmit, or sell any financial data. We don't use analytics cookies to track your behavior on the site. When you export a backup, it downloads as a JSON file directly to your device. When you share a link, the data travels in the URL hash — it never touches a server.

If you clear your browser data, your saved budgets are deleted. We recommend using the backup feature periodically if your data is important to you.
